Some of the most popular songs of the last 20 years were offered to other groups before they were recorded. Can you imagine passing up a HUGE #1 record? That's exactly what happened with some of these songs...for instance: 'Baby One More Time' went from TLC to Britney Spears! TLC were way too grown for teen pop when they were offered this song, opting for mature tracks like 'Waterfalls' instead. 'One More Time' became a career rocket-launcher for Spears, and it midwifed the rebirth of bubblegum. Chalk up another one for Britney!
